Sharing handcrafted interpretations of songs of love, loss, sorrow and joy, be transported to a world of lush harmonies, beautiful silences and timeless melodies. Armed with just their voices, one guitar, haunting atmospheric effects and the deep resonance of Peter Hollo on cello, Close to Forever will share original works and favourite rarities including pieces by Nina Simone, Tim Buckley and traditional laments.
Sydney based band Close to Forever are Dale Caldwell - vocals (Voices from the Vacant Lot, Martenitsa), Ben Fink - guitar/effects/vocals (The Whitlams, King Clam), Chris Abrahams - piano and organ (The Necks) and Peter Hollo - cello (Tangents, Fourplay).
The band originally formed as a duo with Dale and Ben, and over the last few years have morphed into a 3-6 piece band including Sam Golding (Tango Saloon, Sousaphonics) on flugelhorn, trumpet, tuba and Danny Heifetz (Mr Bungle, Tango Saloon) on drums. Meanwhile they invite you to come out and experience Close to Forever in quartet mode.
