Jimmy Vargas and the Black Marias

Jimmy Vargas and the Black Marias are a four-piece combo, featuring crooner Jimmy Vee on huckster-vocal duties with guitarist Scot Leishman, Bassist Alex Hewetson and Drummer Antero Ceschin.

The Black Marias re-interpret the classic swing jazz anthems from the 1950's Broadway-Hollywood era, up to the lounging Vegas of the early sixties, performing it with a slick atomic style.

Their song-lists spanning the genres of mambo, jive, torch, caterwauling jump blues with a sparkling sprinkle of  exquisite originals.

The Black Marias have played at esteemed Sydney venues such as Vanguard, the Victoria Room, Hotel Blue, the Metro, Upstairs at Fred's, and the Surry Hills Festival.
